Cenote Angelita (Little Angel) offers one of the most surreal diving experiences imaginable. It's a deep sinkhole where a thick cloud of hydrogen sulfide separates the freshwater above from the saltwater below, creating the illusion of an underwater river.
Features
A deep, cylindrical cenote. The main feature is the thick, opaque cloud of hydrogen sulfide at 30m (100ft). Descending through the cloud into the dark saltwater below feels like entering another world. Trees poke up through the 'river'.
