In 1988, the volcano on Banda Neira erupted, sending a flow of lava into the sea that destroyed the existing reef. In the years since, the coral has regrown at an incredible rate, and today the site is a stunning, dense garden of hard corals covering the black volcanic rock.

Features

A sloping reef formed on a historical lava flow. The site is a famous example of rapid coral regeneration, now featuring a vast, dense garden of table and staghorn corals. It's a beautiful and easy dive for all levels.
