Famous as the location for the movie 'The Beach', Maya Bay has been closed to boats to allow the reef to recover. The diving on the outer edges is still excellent, with healthy corals and a large population of blacktip reef sharks in the shallows.
Features
The bay itself is now a protected area for reef recovery. Diving and snorkeling take place just outside the bay entrance. The area is known for its beautiful hard coral gardens and is one of the best places in Thailand to see blacktip reef sharks.
