Sha'ab Rumi is Sudan's most famous reef, where Jacques Cousteau conducted his Precontinent II experiment, leaving behind underwater structures. The reef's plateaus are one of the best places in the world for reliable encounters with schools of scalloped hammerheads.
Features
A reef famous for two things: the remnants of Cousteau's underwater habitat experiment, and the spectacular shark action. The south plateau is a prime spot for seeing large schools of scalloped hammerheads, as well as grey reef and silvertip sharks.
