Qita' al Banna is another spectacular deep pinnacle in northern Sudan. The strong currents that sweep the pinnacle attract a huge amount of life, making it a fantastic spot for seeing sharks, large schools of barracuda, and jacks.

Rabaul has a massive natural harbor that was a major Japanese naval base in WWII, and it is now filled with wrecks. The volcanic landscape creates excellent muck diving, and the outer reefs are pristine and healthy.

Race Rocks is an ecological reserve known for its incredibly strong tidal currents. This creates a thrilling, high-speed drift dive for advanced divers. The nutrient-rich water supports a staggering amount of life, including a large sea lion colony.

Racha Noi is the more adventurous sister island to Racha Yai. The dive sites here are deeper, with granite boulder formations and stronger currents. The southern tip is a cleaning station that attracts manta rays in season.

Raggie Cave is the premier site on Aliwal Shoal for seeing ragged-tooth sharks during their winter aggregation. It's a large, open cavern where dozens of these impressive (but docile) sharks can be seen resting, offering incredible photo opportunities.

Similar to the site at Aliwal Shoal, the deep reef of Protea Banks also features caves that serve as a resting and gestation area for hundreds of ragged-tooth sharks during the winter months.

Rainbow Reef is the most famous reef in the Somosomo Strait. The currents that flow through the strait fuel an incredible explosion of colorful soft corals, making this one of the most vibrant and visually stunning drift dives in the world.

The Rainbow Warrior, the famous Greenpeace flagship, was sunk by French secret service agents in 1985. It was later moved and re-sunk as an artificial reef. It is now a beautiful and poignant dive, covered in colorful jewel anemones.

Randy's Gazebo is a beautiful dive on the Bloody Bay Wall, famous for a large, chimney-like swim-through that starts on the reef top and exits on the deep wall. The wall itself is covered in spectacular and colorful sponges.
🇲🇾Malaysia
Rantau Abang is historically famous as a major nesting ground for giant leatherback turtles. While sightings are now very rare, the offshore reefs still offer pleasant diving with healthy corals and a good chance to see green and hawksbill turtles.
